Family Beach 2018

Offering sizzling sunshine, glass-smooth seas and enough activities to keep even the most active child preoccupied, make sure these glorious beach destinations are on your bucket (and spade) list for 2018.

Mallorca

The largest of the Balearic Islands offers it all: sun, sand and sea, all set against a stunning backdrop of curved coastline.

You’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to Mallorca’s many gorgeous beaches, but take your pick between secluded sands, such as the serene Cala Figuera, or more playful spots. Younger members of the family will love Peguara, where they can play to their heart’s content on inflatable slides and rides, while older kids will enjoy an array of water sports, from water skiing to banana boating.

Alicante

Alicante is a popular choice for visitors of all ages thanks to its idyllic scenery and white sandy beaches. Meanwhile, when the sun sets, the city chimes into life as locals and visitors alike dance the night away together in this legendary partying hotspot.

Families will enjoy exploring Rambla de Mendez Nuñez and Avenida Alfonso el Sabio, and the many baroque buldings. As for beaches, don't miss out on a visit to La Granadella, which has twice won the accolade of Spain's best beach, while Las Marinas is a safe beach with stretches of golden sand and shallow water - perfect for younger members of the family.

Crete

Picturesque Crete will not disappoint for first time visitors of Greece. An abundance of character, plenty of natural beauty, a rich culture, and gorgeous food - what more could you ask for?

Don't miss out on a visit to the iconic Elafonísi beach, where turquoise waters meet pink-tinted sand, or take a trip to Váï, the Carribean-esque beach where the famous Bounty 'taste of paradise' advert was filmed.

Algarve (flying into Faro)

A visit to the coastal jewel of Portugal ensures travellers are exposed to Portugal’s most famed golden sand beaches, backed by breathtaking cliffs, whitewashed cottages and striking Renaissance-era architecture. However, taking in the southern facing capital of the Algarve, Faro transcends even this most captivating of oceanscapes into a visceral exploration of the heart of Portuguese culture, befitting a relaxed family holiday destination.

Natural reserves and beaches still abound in Faro, with water sports activities and dolphin watching excursions available alongside wildlife watching opportunities in the lagoons of Parque Natural da Ria Formosa.

Zakynthos

Those looking for stunning beaches – complete with turtles, shipwrecks, caves and offshore arches – won’t be disappointed with this  pearl of the Ionian.

Children will love being adventurers as they explore the hidden treasures of Zakynthos, whilst no one will fail to be impressed by the stunning panoramic views of this fabulous getaway.
