Aeropark Open Days
The Aeropark holds a number of unique 'open days' during the summer months. These include the annual 'Air Ambulance Day' and 'Open Cockpit Days' where visitors are treated to additional attractions which in the past have included a bouncy castle, face painting, tombola, vintage vehicles, Airport Fire Engine, classic aircraft flypasts etc.
The Air Ambulance Day usually includes a flying visit by the 'Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance' Augusta A.109 helicopter giving visitors a chance to talk to the crew and the paramedics that fly with this magnificent charitable organisation. The Aeropark donates a large part of the visitors entrance money to the EMA based Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA).
The Aeropark Open Day on Sunday 10th July 2011 raised £300 for the East Midlands Airport based DLRAA Air Ambulance.
The Open Cockpit Days give visitors a rare chance to see inside the 'drivers seat' of many of the exhibit aircraft. A small charge is made to raise funds for the continued restoration of these wonderful machines.
The dates for the Aeropark's 2012 'open days' are:
Sun-Tue 3rd / 4th / 5th JUNE - Jubilee Celebrations
Sunday 15th JULY - Open Cockpit Day
Sunday 26th AUGUST - Open Cockpit Day
