Egg-static birthday celebrations this Easter!

The bus from Derby to East Midlands Airport will celebrate its second birthday this Easter weekend with an egg-static giveaway in Derby city centre’s St Peter’s Street on Friday 2 April.

The airport’s mascot Rascal the Rabbit will be greeting passers-by with Easter eggs, birthday cake, balloons and other Skylink goodies.  Free face painting on the bus will also be available.

In April 2008, the bus was re-launched as a 24 hour service, operating every 30 minutes during the day and hourly at night and was re-named Skylink.

Kelly McHugh, Skylink’s Marketing Manager, said, “The service has come a long way since the Airline Shuttle days.  In the last two years as Skylink, it has carried over 1.2million passengers to the airport and Loughborough.  Last year the service was extended onto Leicester on an hourly basis, which has also proved very popular with passengers.”

Skylink operates up to every 30 minutes, 24 hours a day, seven days a week from Bay 12 in Derby’s new bus station.
