Skylink goes down in history

Skylink today went down in history as the first service to use Derby's new bus station.  On Saturday 27 March, Skylink and other services packed into the station for the official opening ceremony performed by Mayor Councillor Sean Marshall.  Members of the public were able to get their first glimpse of the building they have been waiting to see since the old station closed in 2005.

On Sunday 28 March, services officially began operating from the station and Skylink was the first to arrive and pick up passengers.  Steve Clulow, brand manager for Kinchbus, said it was an honour to be the first bus to use the station.  He said, "They've done well with the place.  It looks great.  It's quite a different sort of building to the old bus station but it seems to work well."

The new station will see an end to 45 services departing from temporary stops in Morledge, Corporation Street, Albert Street and Full Street.

The bus station will close between midnight and 5am.  During these hours, Skylink will operate from Stop L3 directly outside the station.
