Monarch the leading scheduled leisure airline, today pledged its long term commitment to East Midlands Airport with a new five year commercial agreement with the airport’s operator, MAG.
Monarch currently flies to eight holiday destinations from East Midlands, its fifth UK based airport when it opened in 2012.
The airline also operates from London Luton, London Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham and Leeds Bradford Airport.
Iain Rawlinson, Executive Chairman of Monarch Airlines, said:
“This agreement with MAG will help us grow the number of customers we carry and the support services that we offer at East Midlands Airport. As we expand our network, we are confident that the combination of superior customer experience and value that we offer will attract more and more customers to Monarch.
“As part of our determination to put people first, all our employees at East Midlands Airport will shortly be enrolled in an Olympics-inspired WorldHost training programme that we are rolling-out across the Group this winter. It will help us deliver what matters to our customers - an exceptional service - when travelling from here.”
Ken O’Toole, Chief Commercial Officer for MAG, said: “Monarch Airlines is an extremely important carrier for our business and we’re delighted by this long term agreement, which underlines the airlines ability and ambition to grow further.”
