New shared taxi scheme for rail passengers using East Midlands Parkway station
A new shared taxi scheme will launch on Sunday 28 March, providing a fast and direct connection between East Midlands Parkway station and East Midlands Airport.
The new scheme will replace the Railink bus, which has operated on a trial basis since the station opened in January 2009. The airport and East Midlands Trains is working in partnership with local taxi firm Village Cars to provide a shared taxi at a reduced rate of £3 for each pre-booked passenger.
To guarantee the reduced rate of just £3, passengers must book at least 12 hours or more in advance of the taxi being required. Passengers can book online when booking their train ticket or at any time by visiting East Midlands Trains or by calling Village Cars direct on 01332 706020. Passengers that have not booked in advance will be charged the normal walk up rate.
