Passengers Warned Of Donington Park Traffic

All passengers, visitors and staff are being urged to allow plenty of extra times in getting to East Midlands Airport (EMA) this weekend, as thousands travel to the British Superbike Championships.

Major roads and motorways leading to this venue are likely to be busy from Friday 21st September to Sunday 23rd.

The Airport has been working closely with the organisers, Leicestershire Police, the Highways Agency and Leicestershire County Council to implement a traffic management system to minimise delays. The traffic plan is designed to make it easier for spectators to get into and out of Donington Park, and to reduce delays experienced by other road users in the area.

The traffic plan:

Sunday 23rd September

  • Traffic travelling to EMA from the South west, M1 and A50 will be directed onto A453 west to Pegasus roundabout.
  • Access to EMA from Melbourne Village along Melbourne Lane will follow a signed diversion route via Wilson and Breedon.
