East Midlands Airport launches travel extras store

East Midlands Airport has today launched a new Travel Extras Store for passengers.

The Travel Extras Store will provide customers with a one-stop shop to serve traveller’s holiday needs. The new online products are now available on the airport’s website with more products planned for later in the year.

With four out of five holidaymakers booking extras on top of their holiday, the airport believes it can play an important role in developing the future of travel products. East Midlands Airport already provides products, such as an airport lounge, holidays, flights, currency and valet and on site car parking.

Caroline Plant, Marketing Director East Midlands Airport, welcomed the launch saying: “We’re growing our business significantly this year and the new online store will extend our reach into the marketplace even further, giving our passengers more choice over the type of products they want to support them on their travels. We want new passengers to choose our airport and improve our relationship with existing customers; the new store will be a key part of that process.”

Leading products available from the Travel Extras Store include; private jet hire in partnership with Private Fly, overseas assistance, luggage tracking services and express lane through security. Private Fly acts as an internet broker, bringing together passengers with private jet operators. Customers will have a choice of jets and destinations, all of which are a competitive market price.

The airport’s express lane is a dedicated channel which enables passengers to fly through security and reach the departure lounge quicker. Passengers that have an express lane ticket will be given a priority service to ensure that waiting at security is kept to a minimum.

Another well-established brand in the travel industry is Call Uma, an overseas assistance and luggage tracking service. Their overseas assistance product offers multilingual help and information for passengers in any time zone or location. By texting the word 'help' to the service the customer will be called back instantly by a translator, who can assist in an emergency situation. Alternatively, the customer can text a question and the service will reply with the answer, for example providing directions to the nearest chemist wherever in the world the customer may be.
