Skylink Says Thank You For One Million Trips

Nottingham Skylink, East Midlands Airports flagship bus, will be celebrating its one millionth passenger this week. The lucky passenger who steps on board this Friday will win a holiday to Goa with First Choice, travelling from East Midlands Airport in February next year.

Holiday makers on the one millionth passenger bus will travel for free and be entertained with a magician performing close-up magic tricks on their journey to the Airport. Each passenger will receive a Skylink commemorative goodie bag with Skylink goodies and other great prizes.

Passengers are encouraged to use the service on Friday 14th September, for a chance to be the one millionth passenger and win a trip to Goa.

The service, which began operating in May 2004, has seen passenger figures increase over 100% year on year.

East Midlands Airport Bus Partnership Executive, Kelly McHugh, said
“This amazing milestone is a tribute to the quality and reliability of Skylink, the operator and its drivers. We want to say a big thank you to our passengers for using Skylink, with lots of great prizes for all those travelling on the millionth passenger bus. If you are travelling from EMA on Friday, make sure you use Skylink and you could be off to Goa next February with First Choice travelling from East Midlands Airport.”

Councillor Brian Parbutt, Nottingham City Council, said
“The City Council is delighted with the success of the Skylink bus service. It connects the Airport to the heart of the city for tourists visiting Nottingham. Residents holidaying abroad can do so cheaply and it also provides a vital link to access the growing number of job opportunities at the Airport.”

Anthony Payne, Land and Development Director, emda, said,
“The Nottingham Skylink project is one which emda has supported since its inception. We welcome the contribution it has made, in particular through its role in providing access to employment opportunities at the airport, but also in providing a transport link for use by business travellers and tourists. The service provides a crucial link for connectivity in our region. This is a positive scheme which helps our communities participate in the 'flourishing region' and successful economy we and our partners are working hard to achieve."
