Skylink passengers jump on board to save tonnes of CO2

Recent passenger figures for East Midlands Airport’s dedicated bus service for Derby and Leicester shows a 12.5% increase for people using the Skylink bus to travel to and from the airport in 2010.

The latest statistics have revealed that a remarkable 709,551 passengers used the bus last year, compared to 630,556 in 2009. During the summer months, passenger totals topped over 15,000 a week, which were boosted by the increase of families travelling by Skylink for their summer getaways.

East Midlands Airport actively encourages its passengers to travel sustainably, to help to reduce their carbon footprint. The 491, 909 passengers, who used the service last year, generated a total saving of 1,600 tonnes of CO2.
