Wind Turbine Proposal

East Midlands Airport has approached North West Leicestershire District Council for permission to install a set of advanced wind turbines on-site at the airport.

We have given careful consideration to all aspects of our proposals and sought advice from both world-leading technology company QinetiQ and the Civil Aviation Authority to ensure the complete safety of our plans ahead of the planning process.

The turbines are a welcome addition to our suite of environmental measures at the airport – and something that the whole community can feel proud of.

Over the past ten years we have invested more than £2m in environmental initiatives, from emission control to waste and surface water management.

The introduction of wind turbines is a big step towards our commitment to making our ground operations carbon neutral by 2012.
