New jobs and investment for bmi regional

There have been a significant number of recent changes at leading UK airline and recently acquired bmi regional with several more exciting developments on the way over the coming weeks.

As chairman Ian Woodley outlines, it’s been a hectic period for the business with so much to be undertaken to separate from the other aspects of the bmi brand while ensuring a seamless for bmi regional’s thousands of customers:

“We’ve already taken on an additional 20 staff at East Midlands, with over 20 more joining in the next six weeks, including the opening of our new call centre. As well as maintaining our operations centre in Aberdeen we are also about to move from temporary office accommodation into our new 8,000 square feet complex at East Midlands Airport.

“We have just announced new services between Aberdeen and Bristol and Manchester and Antwerp for the forthcoming winter season, with more new routes to follow in the new year, while we are also in the advanced stages of planning for our brand new website – www.bmiregional.com - new in-flight magazine and new frequent flyer programme.”

Brad Miller, managing director East Midlands Airport said: “bmi regional is an established East Midlands brand and we welcome their commitment to both the airport and the region, by continuing to operate two successful routes and offering employment opportunities.

“The additional jobs that the new call centre will offer, will be of great benefit to those based in the surrounding counties and offers bmi regional a chance to further embed their brand and excellent reputation.”

Andrew Bridgen, MP for North West Leicestershire said: “Given all the upheaval of the bmi takeover, I am pleased to hear that bmi regional is developing new routes and taking on extra staff. This remains an important airline for the region and it is great news that they are staying at East Midlands Airport.”

Ian Woodley continued: “We have also appointed internationally renowned M&C Saatchi as our new advertising agency and a campaign, featuring the strapline ‘bmi regional – Streamlined for Business’ will commence today. On top of all that we have been spending a substantial amount of time reviewing the bmi regional customer experience, with the promise of an enhanced customer service to come, so all in all, it has been a very busy period since we acquired the business with the pace of development unlikely to ease for the foreseeable future.

“Today is an exciting day for the team at bmi regional as we announce our first two new routes, launch our website and the new M&C Saatchi-developed advertising campaign. We will soon be in a position to announce the addition of further new services to commence in the New Year, significantly increasing the range of routes providing key business and leisure connectivity to cities throughout the UK, and also our new frequent flyer programme so we can definitely say that bmi regional is now most definitely open for business into the future.”

bmi regional operates over 600 flights a week throughout the UK and Europe and has received the accolade of being the UK’s most punctual airline for the seventh year in a row.

The company was acquire start of June with the new owners publicly committing to retain the airline’s iconic brand values and high levels of service which include check-in up to 30 minutes prior to departure, 20kg hold baggage allowance and complimentary catering onboard.
