Hurghada, Egypt
One of the leading resorts on the Red Sea Riviera
Hurghada’s story is relatively recent, having been developed since the 1980s from a relatively obscure fishing village into a safe haven for water sports enthusiasts, with year-round sun and around 36km of beachfront.

Must see:
Get here and you’ll see just why the town has a reputation among snorkelers and divers – and even if you can’t carry an aqualung on your back, be sure to take a glass bottomed-boat out to one of the nearby reefs.
Must be there for:
Follow the crowds and you’ll come here for an unseasonally warm Christmas – travel off-season, though, in early autumn and early spring and you’ll have the beaches to yourself, and, weather permitting, the pick of the dive sites.
Well-travelled tips:
Venture off the beaten tourist track and into the heart of El Dahar – the old town – for a tip to the bazaar to see how life is really lived.
Travel further afield in search of history and you’ll soon arrive at Al Quseir Al Kadima, noted for its Roman artefacts and Ottoman-era fortress.
Visa:
British citizens travelling to certain coastal resorts for a maximum of 14 days do not require a visa in advance.
Duty free shopping:
As Egypt is outside of Europe, you can benefit from duty free prices on certain items purchased when travelling to Hurghada through our terminals. More information.
