East Midlands Airport named 'Airport of the Year 2011'
East Midlands Airport was named 'Airport of the Year' at the National Travel Trade Gazette (TTG) awards in London last night – celebrating its second top travel award win in just two weeks, having secured ‘Star Regional UK Airport’ at the Travel Bulletin Star Awards earlier this month.
Voted for by travel agents and independent industry observers, East Midlands Airport was named winner for the second consecutive year, ahead of Bristol Airport. Also in the same finalist category were sister airports Manchester and Bournemouth.
This year saw a record number of entries to the Travel Trade Gazette Awards, which were held last night at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. Rewarding only the very best in the travel industry, the panel judged airports on their facilities, customer service standards, innovation, travel trade relations, business strategy, environmental performance and commitment to their local communities.
Brad Miller, Managing Director, East Midlands Airport said: “We are delighted and extremely proud to have been named winner by some of the most experienced travel industry professionals. To have secured this win within just two weeks of our airport being recognised by another high profile awards body, undoubtedly highlights the great work that is being carried out by our colleagues as well as the confidence our travel partners continue to place in our airport.
“At East Midlands, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional customer service and choice and flexibility for our customers, as well as a robust partnership approach to the way we do business. The award clearly demonstrates the positive steps our airport is taking towards raising the bar in airport standards and it’s great to see that our efforts have been recognised.”
