Travelling With Children

There are a range of facilities at East Midlands Airport dedicated to ensuring travelling with young children and babies through the airport is as stress free a process as possible.

Children's Play Area

To help keep the little ones entertained while waiting in the terminal, we've created a fun-filled soft play area for children to enjoy.

As part of the extensive redevelopment project at East Midlands Airport there is now a purpose-built soft play area located on the newly created first floor food court area, just perfect for keeping your little ones happily distracted while you grab a bite to eat at one of our enticing range of restaurants.

The play area is suitable for use by children up to eight years of age.

Travelling Through Security With Babies and Young Children

Liquids, Medication and Baby Food

Containers larger than 100ml/100g such as drinks bottles (including water), even though it might only contain 100ml/100g, are NOT permitted.

If you need to, you can take small quantities of liquids through security. But only if they are carried in a single, clear, re-sealable plastic bag and each item is placed in a separate container no greater than 100ml/100g. A re-sealable freezer bag – approximately 20cm x 20cm or smaller - is about the right size.

Liquid baby food or sterilised water, sufficient for the journey, can be taken through airport security.

Liquids include:

  • Water and other drinks, soups and syrups
  • Creams, lotions and oils
  • Perfumes
  • Sprays
  • Gels, including hair and shower gels
  • Contents of pressurised containers, including shaving foam, other foams and deodorants
  • Pastes, including toothpaste
  • Liquid-solid mixtures
  • Mascara
  • Any other item of a similar consistency
