The airport is in operation 24 hours a day. All retail outlets are open from 5am onwards, with a selection of catering available 24 hours a day.

East Midlands Airport is fully Wi-Fi (wireless connection) enabled with T-Mobile and there are hotspots throughout the terminal.

Your airline or tour operator will let you know how much luggage you can check-in free of charge. This is usually printed on your ticket or confirmation.

If your luggage is over-weight or over-large, or you have too many pieces, the charges can be high. Alternatively the airline could insist you leave some of it behind. If you are taking a series of connecting flights, find out about the luggage allowance for all legs of your journey, as some may differ.

For the safety of airport workers, bags over 32kg will not be accepted and you will need to re-pack.

Hand baggage

You are allowed just one item of hand baggage. The maximum size of the bag is 56cm x 45cm x 25cm. This is consistent with the International Air Transport Association's long-standing recommendation. Please note that these dimensions are a maximum and allowances vary between airlines. Some airlines apply a lower limit and only allow smaller bags on board. Please check with your airline or tour operator for full details.

Exemption for musical instruments

Large musical instruments will be allowed as a second item of hand luggage but they will have to be screened separately.

All your electrical goods should preferably be packed in your hold luggage, although they can also be packed in your hand baggage.

On arrival at the car park:

Drive up to the entrance barrier for your chosen car park and stop
The Automatic Number Plate Recognition system (ANPR) will read your vehicles number plate, verify this against your booking details and the barrier should then open automatically. 

Please note, this process may take up to 30 to 40 seconds to happen

If for any reason the barrier does not open after this time, please press the Assistance button and a member of staff will confirm your booking details with you and subsequently open the barrier to allow you entry.

Please DO NOT press for a ticket to gain access to the car park, as this is not required and doing so will disable the ANPR system in relation to your booking.

On exiting the car park:

Proceed straight to the exit barrier and stop.

The ANPR system will read your vehicles number plate, verify this against your booking details and the barrier should then open automatically. 

Please note, this process may take up to 30 to 40 seconds to happen

If for any reason the barrier does not open after this time, please press the Assistance button and a member of staff will confirm your booking details with you and subsequently open the barrier to allow you exit.

Please DO NOT in any circumstance insert your credit card or debit card into the barrier as a further payment will be taken.

Parking is charged per day or part thereof. All prices shown are in GBP and include VAT at 20%.

We offer the following Car Parking options for Blue Badge holders:

  • For dropping off and picking up friends and family, park in our Short Stay Car Park for up to 30 mins for FREE
  • For longer stays, pre book Short StayLong Stay or Jet Parks Plus* on-line.
  • All Car Parking options above can be booked on-line or via our call centre on 0871 200 3000**

In the event that a Blue Badge bay is not available you may use any bay within the Short Stay Car Park.

Just Visiting?

Blue Badge holders are entitled to use the Short Stay Car Park for up to 30 minutes FREE. The ticket obtained on entry, together with the Blue Badge must be presented at the Car Park Enquiries Office located opposite the Arrivals Hall in order for the ticket to be validated for the free exit. Any time spent in the Short Stay Car Park after the first 30 minutes is chargeable as per the tariffs displayed on entry. The free period does not apply to the Rapid Drop Off zone.

Update my vehicle details

You will receive an on-screen confirmation, detailing your booking reference and instructions. Please print this page for your records as you’ll need this information at the airport.

We will also send you a confirmation email. Please ensure your vehicle registration details are correct as this is used to give you access to the car park. There is an option to amend your booking if you will be arriving at the airport in a different vehicle than originally planned. Failure to receive this confirmation email has no bearing on the status of your booking.

Pre-booking via the website or call centre

We accept Visa, MasterCard, Delta, Maestro, American Express, JCB, Electron and Solo for pre-booking. We are unable to accept any other form of payment via this website or the call centre. Please note if you choose to pay by credit card or prepaid card, you will be charged a £1.50 card fee. We do not charge a fee for debit cards.

Payment at the car park

We accept all major credit and debit cards as well as cash at the car park pay machines. Receipts are available on request. Please note if you choose to pay by credit card, you will be charged a £1.50 credit card fee. We do not charge a fee for debit cards.

As a general rule, check-in opens 2-3 hours before departure. As check-in times can vary from airline to airline, please check your ticket for confirmation.
