Background: I began my aviation career in 1974 working for Servisair at Manchester Airport and during my 4 years found I was drawn to an airline career. I joined Pelican Air Transport, ‘Manchester’s own cargo airline’. But after a short period all operations moved to Gatwick. I spent 9 years working for various airlines including Scimitar and British Caledonian Charter/Cal Air and left Gatwick to move back North. I joined Monarch Airlines in 1987 and as Station Manager Chaired the Manchester Airline Operators (AOC) for circa 8 years. I joined Manchester Airport as Security Compliance Manager in August 2004, moved to Terminal 2 Customer Services and was appointed Terminal Development Manager in 2006, project managing the introduction of Common User Self Service Check in Kiosks (CUSS). 2D/3D readers for the introduction of passenger bag drops and boarding card readers at security and departure boarding gates. When that project was finalised, I moved to the Performance Office during 2008 to influence changes in Handling Agent and Airline performance related to data provided by Handling Agents. As Ground Services Manager my main responsibility is managing the introduction of the updated Ground Handling Service License to be issued from April 2011.

  • Control of the amount of equipment airside and parking areas
  • ULD control
  • Liaison with Manchester Airport Performance Manager regarding Handling Agent performance.
