Bournemouth - Community Relations
Bournemouth Airport considers itself at the heart of the local community and our developing Community Relations programme reflects this continuous commitment.
The Bournemouth Airport Community Fund may still be young, but has already had a positive impact upon the Borough of Christchurch. The Fund was launched in 2007 and provides organisations, which fit funding criteria, the chance to apply for grants towards locally based projects. Although administered by airport staff, the Community Fund Management Committee runs independently of the airport, consisting of local councillors.

Bournemouth Airport has been dedicated to supporting the Portfield School, founded by the Wessex Autistic Society and located adjacent to the airport site. This support has taken many different forms, including donating cash in place of Christmas cards and printer toner recycling, which donates £1 per cartridge to this chosen charity.
The future is bright for the Bournemouth Airport Community Relations programme, with a proposed focus upon environmental initiatives due to commence in 2009. This will embrace the surrounding heath land and sites of special scientific interest (SSSI’s), whilst encouraging keen, long-standing and essential partnerships with local schools and organisations.
Education is a huge area that we work closely with, our Education site is also a separate resource aimed at teachers and students of all ages.
