Must see:
Take a 16km trip out of the main town and you’ll find Koukounaries, one of the finest stretches of sandy beach on the island, which, at 1.5km long, has enough space for everyone.
Must eat at:
Dress in your best whites and head for the all-white, minimalist and downright trendy PR.Ammos beach restaurant, in the grounds of the chic Skiathos Princess Hotel.
Must be there for:
Between the old port and the ferry harbour you’ll find Bourtzi, a narrow strip of land with what passes for the island’s cultural centre. The local council organise a whole series of events and performances here over the summer.
Well-travelled tips:
- If Koukounaries isn’t your scene, try the beaches at Laria, Aselinos and Kanapitsa, all of which are worth a try.
- A trip to the ruins at Kastro will give you an insight into the island’s Medieval past.
