About Skiathos

Boasting some captivating beaches, Skiáthos has long been a popular destination for those looking to relax and unwind. Like most Greek islands, Skiáthos possesses its own distinctive character, promising visitors an outstanding selection of beach-front hotels, a booming night life in the town-centre, and a superb selection of Greek cuisine.

Most visitors to Skiáthos choose to stay at one of the many resort hotels that lie behind the scenic island’s south-shore beaches, although there are some options if you prefer to stay in Skiáthos Town. The stunning Koukounariés Beach can be reached towards the end of the island’s bus line, along with Mandraki Village, a family-friendly place with an excellent restaurant.

Shopping is mostly typical seaside standards like sandals and swimming masks, found around Skiáthos’ harbour. Just up from the old port you’ll find boutiques selling jewellery, copperware, textiles and ceramics. There are many restaurants and beach cafes serving delicious seafood and traditional dishes. Each summer there are a range of theatre and music events, plus exhibits at this small medieval island fortress, which has an open-air theatre and is now linked to Skiáthos Town by a causeway.
